Eaton InSpired: restoring St Denys' and understanding the heritage of Eaton
Eaton InSpired aims to restore our beautiful church of St Denys' through a major restoration of the stone work to the South East corner, the tower and spire all of which is suffering due to erosion of the soft ironstone from which it's built. This restoration work should remove the church from the heritage At Risk register and enable it to continue as a hub for the community of Eaton. To support this further the restoration will be followed by the installation of an accessible toilet and baby changing facilities. We are also undertaking a program of heritage activity exploring the history of Eaton and especially the way in which ironstone has shaped the village over time.
Our natural heritage is also benefiting through the installation of a bank of swift nest boxes in the tower as part of the restoration work, wild areas in the churchyard and exploring how we might take further environmental action as a community.

Eaton InSpired is is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to start the restoration work, with scaffolding going upon November, and to start our heritage research. Research is building on previous work from the previous Village History Group and we will be adding to this website over time. If you have old photos, memories or records please get in touch!
